Hi there!

I’m Aleisha, an accredited Dietitian and Nutritionist (APD) located in the beautiful Sunny Coast, Australia. I live with my husband Taylor, and gorgeous little Border Collie pup, Kimchi.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a dietitian in both the hospital and private practice settings, consulting with a range of different people. I’ve helped people improve their health and relationship with food in areas such as weight loss, diabetes, women’s health, eating disorders, and my favourite area: gut health. I’m also a volunteer as a dietitian at Heal Africa Hospital in the Congo, teaching and training local staff in nutrition.

The first time I went to the Congo, I ended up with a pretty severe case of gastro. I’ve never had many health issues in my life, but this one bout of gastro triggered some pretty awful IBS. Suddenly, common foods that I ate, such as coffee, wheat, legumes, onion, garlic (and to my absolute horror), hummus became massive triggers. Being a dietitian with an interest in gut health, I thought,”I’ve got this! I can manage my IBS through diet easy.” Little did I know it would be so much more difficult. After 12 months of gut testing, changing my diet, understanding my triggers and utilising well researched supplements, I finally regained control over my gut.

One of the trickiest things over this period was modifying my usual meals and finding recipes that didn’t trigger my symptoms, but also healed my gut microbiome and actually tasted good! As a dietitian, I also found that there was a lack of recipes suitable for clients who not only had gut issues, but other inflammatory health conditions.

That’s why I created The Hummus Hub.

The Hummus Hub is is not only a hub where you can find delicious gut-friendly recipes, but recipes that cater for those who need low histamine, gluten-free, dairy free or low food chemical diets. All of my recipes are analysed using Foodworks, and show the nutrient breakdown per serve, including nutrients such as sodium, iron & B12 – nutrients many of us need more of!

And, it might be no surprise to you that I LOVE hummus. So you can expect to find many delicious dip recipes to scoop your corn chippies in to!
